Dakota Fence Company is seeking a full-time Accounting Specialist in the Fargo, North Dakota office.


Accounting Specialist


The Accounting Specialist assists the functions of the Accounting and Administrative teams through transactional and administrative assistance in key tasks, including payables processing and payment matching, processing receivables, PO Creation, assistance with job creation and other administrative duties. 

Ideal candidates should be willing and able to address transactional needs of the payables and receivables processes, along with assisting in supporting the job processing administrative functions.  It requires a motivated, self-starting individual with strong computer skills, knowledge of accounting practices and systems, and excellent organizational skills.


The principal job duties of this position are: 

  • Assists with payable functions including scanning/naming/organizing invoices/receipts into the company work pool system.
  • Working along with other branch personnel to enter invoices, route for approval, and match invoices to goods receipts in the ERP system. 
  • Purchase Order creation, change and closing.
  • Assistance with reconciling company credit cards.
  • Assistance with job creation, job costing, and other administrative tasks as necessary. 
  • Backup for front-desk administrative staff, including helping cover lunches/vacations. 
  • Backup for receivables functions, including scanning and entry of receipts into the company work pool system, applying cash to customer accounts, and making deposits as required. 
  • Maintaining and organizing finance, compliance, and administrative files/documents. 
  • Other duties as assigned by Accounting Manager/CFO. 


Experience and Skills Required:

  1. 2+ years of accounting, payables, or related experience required.
  2. University degree specializing in Accounting/Finance related coursework strongly preferred.
  3. A high degree of personal integrity, strong professional judgment, and positivity. 
  4. High level of organization, including managing physical paper and electronic files effectively. 
  5. Attention to detail and strong sense of urgency in completing tasks. 
  6. Demonstrated strong technology and computer skills required. 
  7. Construction or related industry knowledge and experience preferred. 
  8. Organizational abilities to track multiple deadlines and reporting requirements.
  9. Ability to suggest and implement process improvements. 
  10. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and have good public relations skills.
  1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Payroll or related field from an accredited college is desired.  Two (2) years of directly related experience is a plus.
